We’ve almost reached the end of the year, and holy moly, I feel a bit overwhelmed. Wasn’t it just yesterday that I toasted my husband with a glass of OJ and fell into bed at 12:10 a.m.? And now it’s all over? No.
We still have four weeks to go! Now’s not the time to let yourself go and begin dully cramming in cookies in true December fashion, only to live off of green juice for two weeks in January. Take care!
This is the month in which you can build a strong and healthy foundation for the year ahead. Cut out the drama, the tears and ennui. Use this time for introspection, change those habits that no longer serve you, avoid activities that don’t fulfill you and most of all: don’t let yourself go. Cleaning up those messes takes way too much energy, come January.
Create clear intentions for newness. Send your feelers ahead into the new year. How will it taste, what will it bring? Write it down and enjoy the goosebumps.
End the old year elegantly
How was your past year? Were there tough spots? Welcome to the real world – we’ve all been there.
It was a year full of lessons, some disappointments, a real whirlwind. But take a look back – you’re a completely different person now than you were last January, right? You’ve grown, you’ve fought some battles and most of all: you survived. Now let this past year go – with love and understanding, from the heart.
Resentment and discontent don’t suit you – plus, they cause wrinkles. Remember that which you’ve learned, the experiences you’ve had. Your soul will be so grateful if you choose to focus on what a fantastic person you’ve become. Open your heart to yourself.
Use the time
Dedicate yourself to your practice. Meditate a few minutes longer, move more and don’t hang out on the couch. Fresh air is important for a clear head and intention setting. Take walks, breathe deeply and take this time to feel ahead into the new year.
Might sound strange, since smart, spiritual people are supposed to live in the here and now, but trust me – a bit of fresh, clear intention setting is just the thing in December. It’s the perfect time to make your Soul Board for 2019. And remember to show the ones you love that you care. Doesn’t hurt.
